Our 2nd show went extremely well. Opening at Lola 1996 is actually a very good spot for us. It's like breaking Ice at Ice Planet Hell. Arturo Vega from The Ramones said we "sound like Pink Floyd". He's right you know. I still haven't figured out why the record company is sending out out press kits that say we are like Bowie meets Iggy a truly bad comparison to Psychotica. Pats "dual tone vocal" techniques are working well in the 100 degree weather. We were on the Cover of the Kansas city news as one of the best bands on the planet which I Guess we are. I sure wish that SPIN magazine will give me this computer after the tour as I plug the Magazine everyday at Lolapalooza 1996 and am making a serious effort at reporting events. Brett Gurewitz from Epataph has been hanging out in the Rancid camp and swimming in there little pool that they bring everyday to cool off after the show

DEAR Spin,
We can't seem to get on the www even after we downloaded the browser. Pleae help. Since you can't give us this rental computer you could maybe give me a 2 year subscription. Ena Kostabi (address omitted to protect the innocent Ena) Thank you and much appreciated.
News: The sound company is a little upset with Pat after each show because he smashes up the drum set "err spontaneously" and ruins the mics. Waylon Jennings was nice and The Ramones remain the same 1 2 3 4
We did a record signing at 3:00 near the second stage and will do this everyday as a " meet the band " thing and the first one went very well.
9 in a van ain't so bad but if the Ramones can do it for 40 years so can we uhh maybe not. Can you forward this stuff to George TABB at New York press.

To Joey through Spin. Joey I talk to you on the phone about online stuff and how you are working with Sensenet to do the biggest online live show ever and about inter planetary communication. So I don't understand why you didn't take a computer from the SPIN magazine people. It's very easy to do and doesn't take much time at all. and just think we could chat online late nite after the show in one of the loony bin rooms.

Ena Kostabi Psychotica

ps can you ask Gary if he wants to buy the cover painting original artwork for Adios Amigos? It's still available and I think it would be cool if he bought it and gave it to you as a present after your last show with Pearl Jam.

Sunday will be our 3rd show and everything is great.
The rest of the band is too shy to post even after extensive encouragement. Marv our excellent effects technician promises to post on monday some of his "behind the scenes" experiences.
Pat feels that I should be a little more humble in my postings and scolded me for posting the thing about us being the greatest band on the planet. Maybe I should have said that he is the greatest singer in rock right now which he is.
Our drummer buz has been shmoozing around with the other bands a lot and I am trying to get him to open up and post some of the stuff he hears but not yet.
Tomorrow our special guest band is Cheap Trick that Nitebob knows very well and Tommy wants to get their autographs.
The thing in the New York Times about Lollapalooza being uneventful is completely innacurate as is many of things that they report oh well.
Also today the Rockford show is sold out and should be a humdinger.
I am tired and will be back later.
Goodnight

Hey Spinspy!
Nitebob transmitting from a Ramada in Fishers, Ind. Ena trashed the Mac that Spin loaned us doing a equipment manafest so we can get into Canada in a couple of days. We had to "borrow" a disk from a computer mag in a coffee shop to get back online. Rockford Ill. was the most fun gig so far. Cheap Trick were really cool! All the mainstage bands were hanging out in a fan cooled dressing room inside a old racetrack grandstand. Rick from Cheap Trick wanted to talk about D Generation , and why they are pissed at him. Robin from Cheap Trick brought his daughter , Holland, to meet the kids in Psychotica. Why? I don't know. Pat from Psychotica stage dives into the audience and unplugs the microphone every show. The sound people are not amused by this. I give them a bottle of alcohol so they sleep better and don't worry. After the show on the mainstage, we go see Ruby on the second stage. Then all nine of us get in the van( no tour bus for us, eli) and drive six or seven hours. Brubaker , the guitar tech from L7 hates the van , so we let him drink all the beer in the dressing room.

See Yah

The band saw all my postings and are pissed alittle and took away the computer, so I have to sneak and post real quick.
There is a rumor that Pat will be flown in from a helicopter and lowered down to the stage in New Orleans for our album release july 23rd. This I got to see.
Everything else is great. Tommy is writing for the next album as he was very inspired by Cheap Trick. Pat hurt his back and I had to give him a back rub. I guess this is some sort of punishment for posting too much. I didn't mind though, oh well.
Did you forward this stuff to George Tabb yet?

Nitebob, sending from a Hojo in Newark, Ohio. Forgot to tell you Tom from the NYC band Shake Appeal dropped by in Rockford, Ill. to see Psychotica. We shared a trailer with Rancid in Indy. It was a Punk Rock bonding experience. Those rancid guys are allright in my book. Richie Stotts from the Plasmatics dropped by to say hello as well. I was his guitar tech many moons ago. Stayed to see Metallica in Indy for the first time on this tour. I lasted three songs, left for Columbus, had a strange scene in a Waffle house somewhere in Ohio, got stopped by the police in Columbus for speeding ( 73 in a 65 zone) got a warning, checked in to the Hojo, got 4 hours sleep, went to the gig. Gave the stage manager a bottle, cause he had a tough day. Marv created shit brown smoke during the Psychotica show, full moon fever, I guess. you never know what Marv will do next. Psychotica played the best show so far. I need to get some sleep, see yah!

nitebob, back from canada, now in vermont. the guys in Rancid have a swimming pool (kid size) that they set up near the stage. Buz from Psychotica knocked Tommy the bass player of Psychotica into Rancid's pool. Tommy picked Buz up and dropped him in the pool. Then, the two of them threw Pat, the singer into the pool. These guys are starting to lose it. The monks are also losing it. They started a water gun fight with the Rancid guys and the Ramones crew. Next thing ya know , they will probably start a punk rock band. The weather in Barre, outside Toronto was the best of the tour so far, a real change from the steaming hot gigs in the US. I go and watch Rancids show every day, sometimes a few songs, sometimes the whole gig. I like them better live than on record. Drove a bunch of hours to get to Quebec, only to find the hotel had cancelled the reservation. Two hours later we got a hotel 20 miles away in Levis. Every one got a single room! Some privacy for a change. Checked out the Beth Hart Band on the second stage, they were cool, and nice people as well. The beer in Canada is a lot stronger than beer in the US. Brubaker the guitar tech with Psychotica will attest to that, Check those stairs, Bru! Drove from Quebec to Bennington Vt. played The wildhearts all the way. Check them out, Round records in England. Psychotica/Ramones crew against Rancid baseball game going on now gotta go! see yah nitebob

Arturo Vega lighting director for the RAMONES stopped by to say hi.

On Wednesday the DEAMON becomes the DEVIL. We just added smoke bombs , pyro and Silver jets to our show, watch out Metallica!!!

Tonight Psychotica played baseball with Rancid, we won!!
Deamons reccomendation of the day: Go check out our new buddies the Beth Hart Band on the 2nd stage, great singer great band, Rock on!!

Tonight, Nitebob, Ena and I enjoyed a tasteful treat at Pauls Fish Fry Yum Yum, Yum Yum!!

Finally Ena and myself had a final treat at Big Beckys Ice cream stand.
I had a lobster roll, Ice Tea, Lemonade and Italian ice! Yum Yum, Yum Yum, Yum Yum Ena sezs: "I am hiring the food police".

Home town gigs are extra special, all your friends want to be on the guest list, the record company wants to drive you nuts, the local press is out to get you. Swell! The Fire Marshall says Marv can not use his smoke or the new pyro at these shows. Marv is bummed out. The weather is nice for NYC this time of year. Sindy, Theo, and Squid from the Lunachicks dropped by both shows, as did Anni from Redball. Mitro from the Trick Babys was there as well. After the Wed. show some of us went to Brownies, a club, to see Spitball play. They were excellent and they just had their first single come out on BlackEye Records. Check them out, highly recommended. Most of the Psychotica mob was staying at home, rather than a hotel, as the hotels in nyc are rather expensive, it was nice to go home for a couple of days. Went to Don Hills for a quiet party, and departed to upstate NY for the next gig. Played a new tape of Detroit' s Feisty Cadavers on the way up. The show in Syracuse was rockin', dark storm clouds rollin' over, but no rain. Now we are heading back to NYC for a couple of off days, so Patrick can have his back checked out. Seems that the crowd surfing and the twelve foot leaps into the audience are taking a toll. Patrick Briggs never lets personal safety or his health stop a performance. Ran into (literally) DGeneration on Avenue A in nyc. They are opening up some KISS shows. Good Luck boys! Brubaker, the legendary L7 guitar tech, says he is going to ride on the Rancid crew bus from now on, He hates our van and complains about it all the time. We hate his chain smoking and bid him well,
GOING TO BED!

Hey! email us here ,ask quetions , tell us what you want to know.

Line dancing to Barry White? It was incredible. I never realised how good I had it in N.Y.C. until tonight. Tommy, Buz, and Marv were hangin' with the AIRWALK guys in the bar. Went to a Huddle House for eggs and grits, really exciting huh. Watched Logan's Run on cable in the room. I guess this is the best we can do here. Becky is the best. Today I thought we were going to get beat up by a bunch of "hillybillys" this in qoutes as you can see. But it turned out to be a great show.
The new Psychotica T shirt is in and is fabulous.
I haven't been able to post lately because everyone else is getting into the chat rooms and starting rumors. So I have to sneak away right after the show and sneak/post.
Tuesday is our record release party in New Orleans and everyone is excited and nervous.
After that we start our 10 -15 hour drives in a VAN to Texas, Phoenix, (I might hook up with Jeff Dahl from the Angry Somoans) then Seattle and Los Angeles.
In Hollywood we will do a show with The Joykiller and New Yorks own Goops.
Marv AKA Deamon has been getting "maximum coverage" with the smoke/effects and is very saddened with the possibility of not having smoke in California because of some "pyro law" and expensive permit. So Marv has offered to dance in a Diaper and sprinkle baby powder around for our "maximum coverage" shows in Californication.

I hope all is well in New York with those Aliens shooting down planes and stuff.

Bye

I have heard various rumors and accusations of your "behaviour patterns" on this Lolla tour thing but have no actual facts.
These things I have heard are very severe. I have not actually witnessed any of them, but the things I hear are obviously manufactured out of jealousy and an obvious result of extrememly hard work which I respect. I have not met any of you but I need to ask a favor.
Marv aka the Deamon and I need a lift to San Francisco immediately after the show at the George as I am experiencing severe ankle and Knee pain .
I will see a doctor in San Francisco and maybe can even visit your fabulous house in Pacific heights where my girlfriends kids have visited.
Please let me know if this is a possibilty as we are traveling in a van with 9 people and baggage and it is very uncomfortable at this point.

The Ramones set in Phoenix was interupted by a desert dust storm. The show was stopped, the sound and lights were brought down to the ground, and we waited it out. The audience hung tight, sittin' it out.About 2 hours later, Lolla resumed with a brilliant set by DEVO. Everyone checked it out, even Metallica!!!! We don't see much of Metallica. They come onsite late, sometimes with a police escort. They don't mix with the other bands on the show. They are completely isolated from the rest of us. You don't see 'em hangin in catering, or watchin' other bands. Wait, James Hetfield came early to see Waylon Jennings once or twice. Hetfield even introduced Waylon to the crowd!! We don't watch them either!

C.J. Ramone has been traveling to each show on his Harley. Unlike most musicians, C.J. built his bike. We ran into C.J. at a gas station in Beaver , Utah last night.

ok, spinspy

The Psycho tour hit the Grand canyon on the way to Moses Lake Washington. It was very impressive. We looked, hung over the edge, had lunch and split. We travelled thru the Painted Desert and saw deer in Oregon. At one point, we had to stop the van because cows blocked the highway. Remember, this is at 1 am. We are eatin' tooo much beef jerky. Saw the boys from Crumb travellin' their van. Crumb is cool. We bought a Best of Black Sabbath tape in a truckstop for $1.95. We played it drivi' thru the hills of Washington.

The gig at the Gorge was unbelieveable! A lot of other bands like Alice In Chains came down to check it out. There was an Eddie Vedder sighting as well. The stage at the Gorge is set on the edge of a canyon. Nice weather and a beautiful surrounding! A plesant change from the last couple gigs.
more to come, we gotta go!

wait!!!!!!! Ena and Marv rode on the monk bus to Seattle!!! I saw the youngest monk skateboardin' wearin' a Rancid T shirt!!

more to come
